Integrating holistic services for generational change
Improving the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is a long standing challenge for governments and communities. The estimated 10-17 year gap in life expectancy between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians signifies distinct social inequalities.
Strengthening Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander health lies at the heart of the Closing the Gap reform. Mid-way through the reform strategy, the 3rd Annual Social Determinants of Indigenous Health Conference will provide the opportunity to reflect on successes and assess areas where further coordination and progress is needed.
The conference will address:
- Ways to accurately measure and track service delivery via greater transparency and information sharing
- Strategies for linking holistic policy with health interventions
- Methods for improving accountability at all levels to ensure sustainable progress
Held in conjunction with the Conference, the 3rd Annual Excellence in Indigenous Health Awards gala dinner will take place on the eve of March 28th 2012. The awards are given in recognition of the inspirational work from service providers, communities and individuals making a difference in health disadvantage.
If you are involved with a program or initiative that is bringing us closer to ‘Closing the Gap’, we invite you to make a submission and be recognised through our 3rd Annual Excellence in Indigenous Health Awards.
